I am offering for sale Chandler & Price Pilot Press yoke spring and rod assembly (parts #206C, #206E, & #206R). This includes the rod, spring, cotter pin, and washer. These parts are located near the bottom of your printing press. This spring assembly prevents the yoke (located behind the press) from slamming into the frame when you are about to release the lever after printing. $50 +shipping for the assembly. If you have a pilot press you’ll likely need this. Many presses have bent, broken, or a missing spring or rod as you see as an example at the top of the photo. I make new replacement assemblies as you see in the bottom of the photo.

A couple of examples of what the yoke spring assembly that I have to offer.

My replacement parts are the same as the original with the exception of a smaller hole for the cotter pin which reduces the chance of breakage or bending. Many older presses have rods that have bent or are broken at this weak point. Mine should last longer.

Keep in mind that you should never let go of the lever when it is in the down position. Keep your hand fully grasped on the handle until it is in the full upright position and no longer moving. Then you may slowly let go.

The Dickerson Combination Press that I recently purchased has a motor. I don’t think that the oil on the chain or in the gear box had been changed since it was originally purchased 40+ years ago. So I’ve decided to clean up the chain and replace the oil in the gear box.

As part of the maintenance of the press that I purchased, I needed to clean and grease the outrigger wheels on the outrigger (extending arms that hold the press bed). This was essential to do so that the press bed would move easily when it was engaged in the rollers for printing.

I finally got some flat files! It’s tough working in a tight space, but it will be convenient. Later on I’ll put the flat files on a stand to allow for storage underneath.

Back in September I purchased some used printing equipment from another artist who had retired. The highlight of this is the Dickerson Combination Press which will allow me to print etchings, relief, and then remove the top roller to convert it for lithography (plate or stone).

I finally got the Kelsey press cleaned up and on a stand. I also updated the stand fo my C&P Pilot Press to be moveable. I can move the presses anywhere in the studio or up against the wall to make room for other projects that I am working on.
